Fortitude is a classic, all-weather hillwalking waterproof. Hardshell protection for horizontal squalls, driving winds and so-hard-it’s-raining-upwards downpours. It’s got a longer cut to keep more of you dry and a regular fit to give plenty of room for layers on colder days. Fortitude is for those dawn to dusk days on the hill earning the good weather.

Built for long days in the hills
Fortitude’s slightly longer cut gives greater comfort and protection when hill-walking. Its got a slightly looser fit than our other waterproofs so you can layer up and keep warm as the temperature drops.
Its 3-layer breathable and waterproof membrane gives all-day comfort and wet weather protection. The fully adjustable wired peak hood with drawcord and rear toggle makes the practical hood easy to wear in wet and windy conditions. And the waist and hem draw-cords allow you to perfect the fit and cinch down in bad weather or when wearing fewer layers.
It’s OS map-sized pockets that sit clear of the rucksack hip belts complete the feature set of a classic outdoor waterproof.

The Alpkit name means our waterproof jackets perform as you demand: waterproof and breathable. Not being signed to Goretex or the other component fabrics means we are free to innovate our fabrics with the worlds best mills. Our fabrics are cutting-edge in terms of performance and sustainability.
Fortitude’s fabric has been developed by us with performance and sustainability in mind. It has 20,000 HH waterproof rating and 20,000 MVTR breathability rating making it superb all rounder for UK’s summits and fells.

Reducing our impact
Fortitude is made with 100% recycled face fabric. The Durable Water Repellent treatment is made free from PFC’s. Fabric is 70D making it highly durable and hardwearing particularly when regularly cleaned and reproofed with Nikwax, Granger or our own Alpkit Care and Reproof Kit.

“For Fortitude we’ve merged high performance technology with environmentally responsible choices to create a hardshell that hits back in rough weather. When you’ve a big day in the hills planned, you want a jacket that’ll give reliable protection and excellent coverage from everything the elements can throw at you. Fortitude’s longer cut and 3-layer construction fit the bill.
We needed to protect against the rough and tumble of the hills too so have used 70D polyester on the outer that’s super hardwearing and made from 100% recycled content. Fortitude is designed it to work as part of a hillwalking system: a regular fit for layers, main pockets that can be accessed while wearing a pack, a chest pocket that’ll fit an OS map and an adjustable fit and storm flaps to keep the outside out.”
